Choose 1 player to be Mr. Wolf. He stands with his back to the rest of the players lined up at the opposite end of the play area.

What time is it Mr. This classic is not only a nostalgic activity for mom and dad, but it helps little ones to learn the language around telling time as well as offers some practice taking turns. Kids can also practice their counting and burn off some energy in the process. Parents will love getting in on the action of this nostalgic pastime. I've been using the Mr Wolf game to teach time for the last 3 years. Coupling the game with the song provides a brilliant lesson, combing physical activity, music and fun that can be done by any kids however young, in one class! The Mr Wolf game is the perfect companion to this song! Christie Burnett is an early childhood teacher, presenter, writer and the editor of Childhood 101. My memories of elementary school include plenty of activity: I played Red Rover and “What time is it, Mr. Wolf?” until my knees were scraped clean of skin and I had the biggest grin on my face. Then again, Facebook and Twitter didn’t exist just 10 years ago, and cellphones were as big as bricks when I was young enough to scamper around on.
The players call out, WHAT TIME IS IT, MR. WOLF?
Mr. Wolf shouts out a time between 1 & 12 o’clock.
The number he shouts is the number of steps the players take toward him (for 9 o’clock take 9 steps).
Once the players get close to Mr. Wolf, he shouts LUNCH TIME! and chases them back to the start line.

If a player is caught by Mr. Wolf, that player becomes Mr. Wolf.
